The Holidays: Nobody Does it Like Northstar — by Nick Cisik

Imagine reaching into Santa's bag of gifts and being allowed to pull out as many presents as you wish. Pretty soon you'd be sitting in front of the Christmas tree, a chilled glass of champagne in hand, eyeball-deep in toys (whatever that means to you). This yuletide fantasy could be considered the equivalent of what Northstar has to offer in the way of holiday activity and entertainment; essentially as much as you and your family can handle. And here's the kicker, you don't even have to wait until December to begin celebrating. There are events scheduled here at Northstar starting in November which will motivate even the most frigid of Scrooges to embrace the spirit of the holidays.

This month, over the weekend of November 16th, Northstar will kick the season off by hosting its Welcome to Winter celebration. This will include family sleigh rides, complimentary family photos, face painting, holiday sales, and interactive balance demonstrations with the Burton Academy. This action-packed weekend will be one not soon forgotten.

On the 29th, the first official Silent Night will be held at the Village ice-skating rink. Skates will be available to rent as well as headphones. Skaters can listen to that evening's Christmas movie projected on the big outdoor screen. Participants will also have the option of switching over to a station playing a selection of timeless holiday tunes. Ice-skating while listening to Bing Crosby's rendition of Silent Night? That's a fine recipe for merrymaking.

On November 30th, the annual Christmas tree lighting will take place in the Village at Northstar. Traditionally, this is a fun-filled evening, bringing Northstar's community together to light up the night and launch into what is always a season rife with activity and excitement.

Once into December, Northstar's weekly schedule of holiday events keeps the fun churning with a daily array of offerings for the whole family to enjoy. From S'mores roasting in front of the resort's fire pits, to sleigh rides, kids bungee trampolining, live music, Santa sightings, ice-skating, holiday shopping, and a seemingly endless variety of Après ski activity, you and your family will never be at a loss for fun at Northstar this winter.
